The Groundling
by Marc Palmieri
directed by Scott McWhirter
After stumbling upon a production of Shakespeare in the park, landscaper Bob Malone returns home inspired to write a play
about his marriage. He hires two reluctant New York theatre professionals to stage the play in his garage, with a few colorful
locals. What begins as a formulaic showbiz farce, takes an unexpected swerve toward heartbreak. And borrowing a neat trick
from Shakespeare, Palmieri tops off this comedy with a nicely bittersweet finish.
